Jaime Denniston-Merced has been a New York Cares volunteer and staff member since February 2007. In her position as Volunteer Relations Manager, she worked to ensure that New York Cares' volunteers were well managed, and created and implemented an effective volunteer recruitment, recognition, retention and activation strategy. Jaime also served as Leadership Development Officer, managing all aspects of the Team Leader program with New York Cares, including recruitment, training and enrichment of Team Leaders. Currently, she serves as Director of Training and Professional Development, managing a team of four staff members,who provide all training for volunteers, team leaders and nonprofit organizations. Her team is responsible for facilitating the volunteer Impact Program (VIP), New York Cares' eight week intensive volunteer management training course for nonprofit organizations.
Jaime also serves on two non-profit boards - the New York Association for Volunteer Administration (1st vice President) and New York City Volunteer Organizations (Secretary). Previous to her position at New York Cares, she worked as Program Specialist at The Girl Scout Council of Greater New York for five years, overseeing programming in Southern Brooklyn and all programming for high school aged girls.
Jaime holds a BA in the Sociology of Volunteerism from CUNY, a degree uniquely created by he through the CUNY BA program. she lives in Brooklyn with her husband and daughter, Molly.
