Eighth Grade Application Process

Eighth graders who are interested in attending Bishop Kearney are required to take the Test for Admission into Catholic High Schools (TACHS) in November. If you missed the TACHS exam, please contact the Office of Admissions at admissions@kearneyhs.org or 718-236-6363 x255.

Admission to the school is based on a student's sixth- and seventh-grade academic performance and TACHS scores. Students may select three schools to receive their scores. While we consider all three choices, special preference is given to students listing Bishop Kearney as their first choice.

Students who are interested in academic scholarships should take the Scholarship Exam at Bishop Kearney which is held in November. The test is the HSPT exam. Test preparation can be found in Peterson's Master the Catholic High School Entrance Exams 2018-2019.

The Medaille Program is a comprehensive support program that enables students with IEPs (documented learning needs) to succeed in the regular classroom. Students with IEPs are responsible for sending their most recent IEP to the Office of Admissions and scheduling an interview before a decision can be made.
