MS. GERI HEARNE SHARES HER PASSION FOR BROADCAST JOURNALISM AT BISHOP KEARNEY

Ms. Hearne comes to Bishop Kearney from the world of professional TV News, and as a working College Professor, Book Publisher and Author.

Most recently, Ms. Hearne held the position of Content Producer at WNBC-TV. She’s worked as a reporter, writer and producer for various television stations, after getting her start at ABC Network in the Olympic Division of ABC Sports.

Ms. Hearne has produced shows that have taken viewers to Iraq during the Wars and other tragic events including the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center and the events following the 9/11 terror attacks in 2001.  She won Associated Press and United Press International awards for her reporting.  Other selected awards include recognition at NBC for Leadership and two dozen Emmy nominations including several for breaking news coverage.

Ms. Hearne is sharing her passion for Broadcast Journalism with Bishop Kearney as the first teacher in the much heralded, state of the art broadcast lab, where she will instruct students on TV and Video Journalism. She will also teach British Literature and Literature of Conscience.

She graduated from Long Island University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism, where she specialized in Broadcast News.
