Beginning this year, Bishop Kearney is collaborating with St. Ephrem to enhance their Aquinas Honors Society. The Aquinas Honors Society exists to promote excellence in education by providing intellectually engaging experiences for Catholic school students in Brooklyn and Queens who are academically capable of advanced work.
The students will receive instruction from Bishop Kearney’s Fabrication Lab Director once a week. They will have access to our STEM Wing including the Virtual Reality room, Google inspired Think Tank, and Fabrication Lab including a 3D printer, laser cutter, vinyl cutter as well as a separate room for the Computer Numerical Control machinery. Though this collaboration, the students will understand the topics they are working on at a deeper level as well as present more effectively at The Brooklyn Aquinas Expo. The intellectually engaging and collaborative environment will ensure that every student participates and has the opportunity to develop their unique gift and talents.
Thomas Chadzutko, Ed.D, Superintendent of Schools, R.C. Diocese of Brooklyn, said, “The collaboration between a Catholic High School and an Elementary School is essential in providing students with an enriched educational opportunity to learn and experience new programs. Through the consortium model, we have been able to challenge students in the areas of math and science. We are most appreciative of the Bishop Kearney Leadership in reaching out to the elementary schools and in offering this wonderful learning experience.”
