Junior Grace Aulisa was recently awarded the Maloof Family Young Peacebuilders Award at the Pax Christi Annual Peacemaker Awards Reception held on Sunday, June 3rd. She was one of three high school students whose essays were chosen. Her essay spoke about the effects of bullying and what she did in her Girl Scout troop to make teens and preteens aware of the dangerous effects of bullying.
The University of Rochester sponsors four prestigious awards that recognize high school juniors’ outstanding achievements in leadership and academics. Each high school can nominate up to four qualified students, one for each of these awards. This year, the following Bishop Kearney students were recognized:
Olivia Franki received the Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award for Social Justice.
Grace Aulisa received the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award.
Rochelle Chin received the Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology
Kathleen Egan received the George Eastman Young Leaders Award.
Award recipients who apply to the University of Rochester will be considered for the scholarship that corresponds with their award.
