On Saturday, June 16th, Bishop Kearney’s team, Hope for Change, under the direction of foreign language teacher Maria Giarracca '83, participated in the American Cancer Society’s 20th Anniversary Relay for Life of Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst and Dyker Heights. More than 20 schools in Brooklyn united together with the goal of raising funds for research and services for all cancers.
Relay for Life is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. It is a team fundraising event where team members take turns walking around a track or designated path.
Mrs. Giarracca said, “We relay against Cancer. We honor our survivors and remember valiant fighters that are not with us anymore. Saturday is a very personal relay for our team- Hope for Change -Bishop Kearney High School. We relay in memory of our strongest Kearney girl, Kaitlyn Bernhardt ‘20.”
