Bishop Kearney continues to work closely with our partner school in Johannesburg, Sacred Heart College, to explore topics related to South Africa.
WBKS aired videos and interviews about South Africa and Sacred Heart College, to give Kearney student a better understanding of what life is like there. One video explored the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela. Others showed Sacred Heart students sending greetings to the students of Kearney, as well as the Sacred Heart student choir singing to Kearney’s very own Head of School, Dr. Margaret Minson. A stop-gap animation video on the experiences of a refugee fleeing a war-torn country, created by actual refugee students from Sacred Heart College, was also shown.
Junior Kayla Bryant talked about her experience as a volunteer helping women in need in Africa, and Kearney’s Assistant Head of School, Dr. Ralph Protano, asked our students to come up with questions that they can either research or ask the students at Sacred Heart College. Kearney students are also preparing a video to send to Sacred Heart, featuring a student rendition of the Kearney school song performed on the front steps.
