On March 16th, the Kearney Community celebrated Women’s History Month. Authors, historians, scientists, movie stars and sports figures walked the halls; they all had one thing in common: they were all women!
During the past few weeks, students were busy researching and filling the project boards that line the first floor hall with photos of the women they researched. The final activity was for each student to dress up as the subject of her research.
Throughout the day, the Bishop Kearney community met famous women such as Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Maya Angelou, Amy Tan, Susan B. Anthony, Sandra Cisneros and many others. Hermione Granger was spotted in the cafeteria while Cottontail from Beatrix Potter’s book, Peter Rabbit, was seen hopping through the Library doors.
The students’ enthusiasm filled the school and the whole community learned a bit more about the valuable contributions of women.
