On January 31st, students from WBKS, the student-run TV station, visited the headquarters of 21st Century Fox. Richard O’Brien, Senior Vice President and Creative Director for the Fox News Channel, led the students on a private tour of the graphics department, showing them advanced animation software as well as a sneak peak of the new opening for Fox & Friends.

The students also visited the studios for America’s Newsroom, The O’Reilly Factor and Happening Now, where Bill Hemmer, Jon Scott and Jenna Lee graciously answered the students’ questions and explained how they prepare for the show each day.

Donna Pisciotta, Director of Production for WNYW FOX 5 and WWOR MY 9, has worked with WBKS since the very beginning of our partnership with 21st Century Fox. Ms. Pisciotta walked the students through a few control rooms and explained how each task that the students perform in WBKS relates to each step done in the control room, just on a larger scale.

Emma Schoppmeyer, Senior and President of WBKS, said “ As a club, WBKS has been given many opportunities that have enabled each member to gain insight into what goes on in a real broadcast.  Through individuals like Donna Pisciotta and Richard O’Brien, who have been so generous with their time, we become inspired by the work of professionals and learn what it takes to succeed in this career.  It’s extremely rewarding, and we are all beyond grateful.”
